    Re: Quitting Dipping

I use Melatonin from time to time, seems to work for me.
I can't use other sleep aids unless I have about 24 spare, work-free hours ahead of me.

You can get it at any drug store.

You should have kept the Chantix prescription. It is different for everyone, but I've never slept as good as I did when I too Chantix.

The only side effect I experienced (other than terrific sleep) was great dreams.

    The stuff works.

Chantix worked well for my mother too - a 40+ year smoker and She didn't report any side effects.

Well, if the Melatonin doesn't work, I'll put my tail between my legs and beg. My doc didn't seem too impressed with it, though. I was concerned about the vivid dreams and stomach issues. Again, I didn't want to multiply the withdrawal effects. Bottom line is I just need to ManUp.

The bottom line is that unless you want to quit, you won't.

You speak the truth Wise Bob. I'm ready. Scared, but ready. I've quit drinking, salt, cussing and tobacco is by far the most difficult. I have to go all day without dipping and as soon as school is out, it's like chain-dipping at it's worst.

    Re: Quitting Dipping

As I noted in another thread, I quit dipping about 3 years ago and it wasn't easy but you gotta want it. I used my unborn daughter as motivation so I would live longer to take care of her, so that was enough for me. I grew up without a father so I didn't want my daughter to grow up without one too.

I didn't sleep for 36 hours and had several times where I would sweat real hard then chill. After that 36 hours though, it was great. I gained about 20 lbs but it was great, I always used dipping as a way to not snack all the time.

Good Luck and I hope you are successful.
